Title: Imperial Crane Services Executes Difficult Pick for Citgo Refinery
Date: 03/10/2009
Lemont, IL - Imperial Crane Services, Inc. operated both a 500-ton Liebherr, and a 550-ton Grove, to pick a 102-ton reactor from the Chicago Sanitary and Ship barge at the Citgo Refinery in Lemont, IL. The 500 and 550-ton cranes picked up the vessel simultaneously putting the reactor into position to be placed on a Gold Hoffer. The vessel was then transported into the refinery as part of their Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) project.
This is the first of five vessels Imperial Crane will be lifting, transporting and unloading for the ULSD project. The project will be used to meet new EPA standards for sulfur content in refineries. In April, Imperial will be using their new 350-ton Sany and 230-ton Link-Belt crawler cranes for the larger reactors scheduled to arrive.
